Tough Day on the Links?

CIMG0717

Yeah…I don’t think so!

On August 11th, Ink n Burn was a major sponsor of a golf-charity event for the Family of Ryan Bennett, who was a sports commentator from California who really helped to usher in MMA – style fighting to the world of professional sports and out of the back alleys, warehouses, and Japanese Underground DVDs. So, Ryan died way too young and in his honor the MMA community got together a golf tournament and invited a ton of actual fighters to play golf with people for the day. Ink n Burn made custom golf shirts for everyone and THEN made a limited edition run of 25 Ink n Burn shirts for the fighters and a cool vintage looking wooden gift box for them to keep their shirts (or anything they want!) in. I sure hope they liked them because they looked totally killer. It was a special day all around and a HUGE success!

You can see I got to hang with some of the biggest names in the OCTAGON! The young girl is Ryan Bennett’s daughter. Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture were truly generous guys with a huge presence at the event! I probably coulda taken them but, it was a day for gentlemen behavior and I left my gloves in the car…..

After 18, the fighters and golfers all got to celebrate and lick their wounds in the nice bar at Sierra Lakes Golf Club. It was a beautiful course so, I am sure everyone enjoyed their games whether they came in victors or…. NOT victors! One of our teams got to golf with Dominick Cruz, a young, up and coming hot shot with a fantastic record in the cage and generally a solid guy. You can see that there really were a lot of fighters there!

One of our teams even WON the thing with the lowest score and, yes, that is Tyson Griffin in the middle with the big smile. He even sank a critical ball and really did contribute to the victory. What a champ.

But, everyone was a winner on that day for coming all the way out to Fontana in August to…well, need I say more?
